John O'Sullivan

These Christmas Revision Courses will be delivered by our Head of Chemistry, Mr John O’Sullivan. John has over 20 years experience teaching Higher Level Leaving Certificate Chemistry.

He is passionate about science and has an in-depth knowledge of the Leaving Certificate course and the State Exam.

He will guide you through the course and give you the confidence you will need facing the State exam in June.

What will be
Covered in this Course

Topics will be covered with the upcoming mock exams in mind.

  • Revision of all of the material covered in Q.5 (History of the atom, Arrangement of electrons in the atom, Periodic table, radioactivity and bonding). In doing this, some of Q.4 (short questions) will be covered and most likely a couple of parts from Q.10 and Q.11 (bonding and radioactivity regularly come up in these questions).
  • Rates of reactions.
  • Water Chemistry.


This is material you likely haven't covered since fifth year (Q.5 material) and prepares you really well for possibly 3 questions in the mock exams and potentially more.
