Meet Your Teacher
Julianne Murphy
Julianne graduated from the University of Limerick in 2011 with a BSc in Physical Education and Geography. She has been teaching the new Leaving Cert PE specification for 4 years.
Julianne creates a positive learning environment where she tailors teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners and help each student reach their potential. She is passionate about Physical Education and has an in-depth knowledge of the 3 assessment components of the LCPE course.
Julianne has experience in correcting mock papers and the State Examinations making her knowledgeable about what is expected from students in all 3 components of the LCPE course.

Topic 3: Structures, Strategies, Roles, and Conventions:
Lesson 1:
- Structures, strategies, and/or compositional elements.
- Methods of analysis.
- Modify selected structures and/or strategies.
- Physical, Personal, and Technical qualities needed for a
successful performance.
- Exploiting weaknesses of your opponent.
- Safe practice in approaches to training and performance.
- Warm-up and cool-down practices.
- Selection and maintenance of suitable attire, equipment,
and facilities.
Lesson 2:
- Common injuries, their causes, and first aid treatment.
- Overtraining including player/participant fatigue.
- Rules, roles, rituals, and conventions.
- Communicating respectfully with performers/players and
officials.
- Non-playing roles and desirable interpersonal skills.
- Short- and long-term goals in pursuit of optimum
performance.
- Effective communication skills.
- Strategies to support a performer’s ongoing motivation.
- Effective use of ongoing reflection.
- Personal fitness, psychological readiness, personal attire,
and suitable equipment for the official.
- Communicating assertively with participants.
- Managing conflict in a variety of situations.
