Pearse has over 15 years experience in secondary schools and prior to that he taught English and Irish as second languages in Madrid. He is the co-author of the Junior Cycle textbooks series Croí na Gaeilge (EDCO) and the co-author of the revision notes Junior Cycle Success. Pearse was awarded first class honours for his Masters Thesis to DCU outlining theories on how to improve second language proficiency. He has worked with the State Examinations Commission and is currently a Cúntóir Teagaisc in Fiontar agus Scoil na Gaeilge which is part of DCU.
Pearse believes it is essential that students can manipulate their notes and material so as to address the exam head on. This is the overriding issue needed to unlock the new exam format. The ability to respond to pictures, reading comprehension and other multi modal material will be critical for students who wish to excel at this level. The vocabulary and techniques to do this will all be covered in this course. In summary this course will teach you how to read, write and respond as Gaeilge.

What to expect:

Live online grinds.
Exam-focused.
Interactive online class to help you achieve your best grade possible in Leaving Certificate Irish.
Highest quality comprehensive notes.
Recorded classes: you will have access to each class recording so you can replay the classes at your own pace, as often as you like.
Maximum Number of students: 20
What will be covered:
  • Audio files (including translations) for the Sraith along with written replica scripts will be added to the class library. This system will allow us to cover far more ground within the sessions.
  • Within the sessions we will cover the full literature course, it will be done at a swift speed. Remember the poem and story combined are only worth 10% of the exam. Students give over too much time to these and lose focus from other more lucrative parts of the paper
  • The novel Gafa will be done over 2 sessions, this will provide you with a very strong exam friendly second option on Ceist 4.
  • A dedicated class on section 6B which is very often the section that costs people their top grade. 6B is where you need to generate your own answers fully on the day of the exam.
  • The big-ticket grammar issues will be itemised and done in detail. The explanation will be exam friendly. The fall of the marks will be well explained, and you will be advised as to how to maximise your results through the use of efficient high-quality Irish. There are markings of quality which are needed to excel in this exam. These markings will be built into the notes and will be highlighted during the sessions online.

Our students love us

A big thank you to Mr O'Leary. His lessons gave me fundamental maths skills, excellent exam tips and advice and confidence in my maths ability. Mr O'Leary's advice, "when you don’t know what to do, do what you know“ helped me to start all exam questions, and that first step led the way to a grade I am so proud of.
Thanks so much to Eoghan for all his support over the last 2 years. Thanks to Eoghan, I got a H2 in the exam. I am delighted.
Can’t thank Eoghan enough for all his help. He answered every question I had and I’m 100% sure, I wouldn’t have got a H1 without his help. Thank you so much.
Highly recommend Mr. O’Leary’s classes. Such a nice person who puts in so much effort to each lesson. He gives time to each student and answers every question! Really good environment in the classes which also encouraged everyone to work hard.
