These grinds are taught by our award-winning Biology teacher, Dr Declan Cathcart.

Over the course of the year Declan will guide you through the entire Leaving Certificate Biology syllabus. You will quickly learn how to streamline your Biology studies and where to focus your efforts. He will show you how to simplify the course content, making Biology clear and manageable.
*Typically the figure nationally is 25% while in 2021 was 35%.

Suitable for 5th and 6th years,  for those repeating or taking Biology as an extra subject.

For 6th years: There may be gaps in your knowledge or you need to deepen your understanding of some difficult topics. This course will give you the chance to fill those gaps.
For 5th years: The course will help you to keep on top of a subject that is content-heavy and fast-moving in the first year of the Leaving Certificate cycle.
Biology as an extra subject? This course will ensure that you have all the support and resources that you need to succeed in the 2023 Leaving Certificate Biology exam.
What will be covered:

  • Unit 1: The Study of Life - Scientific Method, Biomolecules, Ecology
  • Unit 2: The Cell - Cell Biology, Enzymes, Photosynthesis, Respiration, Genetics
  • Unit 3:  The Organism - Human Systems, Plant Biology
  • An in-depth review of the Mandatory Practicals
